Getting into the B.Des Fashion Design program is straightforward. Here's what you need:
The B.Des in Fashion Design is a 4-year full-time degree that trains you to think, create and work like a professional fashion designer — from the first sketch to the final garment on the runway.
Colour theory, composition, illustration and visual language — the bedrock of every designer
Understanding fabrics, fibres, weaves, finishes and how materials shape great design
Real hands-on production — draping, cutting, construction, collection building in fully equipped studios
Live brand projects, internships and fashion show presentations every year of study
Progressively deepens from design basics to specialised collections — each semester builds on the last
Industry-grade sewing machines, CAD labs, textile libraries and garment construction workshops
Learn from designers, stylists and buyers who have worked with India's leading fashion labels and brands
Students showcase collections at IMS DIA's flagship fashion show — attended by press, buyers and recruiters
NAAC A+ accredited — your B.Des degree is valid and respected across India's fashion, media and design industries
This isn't about memorising textbooks. Every module is built around skills employers and clients actually pay for.
From hand-rendered croquis to digital fashion flats — develop your unique illustration voice
Draft, grade and modify patterns for diverse body types and garment categories with precision
Build actual garments from scratch — tailoring, draping, seams, finishes and industrial techniques
Identify, select and apply the right fabrics — fibres, weaves, finishes, sustainable materials
Industry-standard software for tech packs, digital mood boards, prints and collection presentation
Concept to runway — build cohesive seasonal collections with a designer's editorial eye
Fashion design graduates work across a vast, growing industry — in India and globally. Here's what's possible.
Design garments for brands, boutiques, couture houses or your own label

I came in after 12th with zero idea how fashion actually worked. Four years later I presented my own collection at our fashion show — and three days after graduation I got a call from a Mumbai-based label. DIA didn't just teach me to design. It made me believe I was one.
The studio culture at IMS DIA is what sets it apart. You're always making things — not just listening. My pattern-making skills in Year 2 were already better than what most people get after graduation elsewhere. The internship in Year 3 turned into a full-time offer.
My parents were nervous about a design degree — they wanted something "safe." Today I run my own small label and consult for two brands. DIA gave me the skills, the contacts and — honestly — the guts to back myself. Best decision I ever made after 12th.
Every year, hundreds of students apply for a limited number of seats in the B.Des Fashion Design program. The earlier you apply, the better your chances of securing your spot — and your future.
